Revoke Mint and Freeze Authority on Solana

Mint authority can increase supply. Freeze authority can freeze token accounts so balances cannot move. Revoking either writes that authority to none. That is irreversible on that mint.

When teams revoke

After a fixed supply is minted, many projects revoke mint authority so nobody can inflate supply. After they decide freezing is not part of the product, they revoke freeze authority. Do this only when the economics are final — you cannot undo it.

What revoke does not do

It does not edit metadata, move liquidity, or prove the token is safe. Use Token Safety / Rug Check to inspect the mint, then revoke with Revoke Authorities if your wallet still holds the keys.

While mint authority remains, you can still mint or burn via Token Management. After revoke, those mint paths stop for everyone.

Check before you sign

Confirm the mint address. Confirm you are on the intended network. Confirm the wallet that holds the authority is connected. After confirmation, verify on an explorer that authorities show as none.

Can I restore a revoked authority?
No. Once mint or freeze authority is set to none, it cannot be restored on that mint.
Does revoke make a token safe?
No. It only removes those two controls. Holder concentration, liquidity, metadata, and other risks remain.
Is metadata update the same as mint authority?
No. Update authority for metadata is separate. This revoke tool targets mint and freeze authorities.
